Eagle Point Club is well known locally for its original 1916 fully renovated clubhouse, adding to the neighborhood's old Florida charm. Eagle Point Camp was founded on the site by Bertha Palmer, a Chicago socialite who owned large tracts of land in Florida (you've perhaps heard of Palmer Ranch in south Sarasota). Wealthy industrialists and executives came to Eagle Point in the 1920's to get away from city life, especially in winter months. The cabins and water tower from this period are still intact on the southwest corner of the neighborhood.

Downtown Venice with it's shops and restaurants is just a short walk or bike ride over the KMI bridge.
